UBC IT has initiated a project to replace the University’s Octel voicemail system with Exchange 2010 Unified Messaging (UM). The new voicemail service will provide both UM accounts (which integrate email and voicemail) and traditional voice mailbox functionality.

Goals

UBC Voice Mail will provide two types of service:

Unified Messaging: Integrates voicemail with email. Voicemail messages and options can be accessed via Outlook, Outlook Web Access, and over the phone. Available to subscribers who have a FASmail account.
Voicemail Only: Provides a voicemail box. Available to subscribers who do not have a FASmail account and who commonly use phones.
